Mozambique offers some of the best game fishing in southern Africa. If you're after black or striped marlins -they're regularly caught in the Bazaruto area. Very large fish, weighing hundreds of kilos are regularly caught in the Mozambique channel. Sailfish season peaks in July and August.

Catch and release is encouraged.

Angling from the shore is also doable.

Salt water fly fishing has has become very popular in Mozambique. Conditions are ideal and many regard salt-water fly fishing as the pinnacle of the sport.

Fly fishermen can expect to find mainly bonefish in the area, which are great sport.The Bazaruto Archipelago islands are renowned for being home to some of the world’s largest bonefish.
