Flies

If you are new to fly-fishing then you're probably buying all your flies. Well many fly-fishers do, until they start tying their own. Buying your flies will certainly save you time and probably money but the satisfaction of catching a fish on a fly that you tied is just so much more rewarding.

Fly tying certainly becomes and addiction and collecting materials becomes and obsession and creating patterns that work will become your mission. So, before you decide to tie your own flies, know what you are getting yourself into. Fly tying is a great hobby in it's right.

Choosing the right fly for any particular conditions isn't that difficult. It helps to know what fish frequent the waters that you are fishing, what time of day they are most likely to feed and of course what they feed on. Also, fish tend to have different feeding habits in different conditions.
